Five Ways to Style a Tutu

I would have to say the most commented on piece of clothing that I own is my tutu skirt from American Apparel!! And I understand why because it is quite fabulous I must say!  That is exactly why I decided that I would do my Five for Friday post this week on different ways to style this marvelous skirt. So here we are.

1. A no nonsense way to style this fluffy skirt is with a simple tee.  I picked this one up from Forever 21 and I wear it at least once a week! I am a huge tee fan so this look was easy for me.
(F21 tee and headband, AA tutu, Nine West shoes)

2. I am a huge black and white stripe fan.  I feel like you can pair it with prints and almost any color under the sun.  I liked how it looked with the skirt and a classic black cardi.  I topped it off with a black floppy hat for that girly appeal.
(H&M shirt, J.Crew cardi, AA tutu, Nine West shoes, F21 floppy hat)

3. Mixing rocker pieces with feminine pieces is not a new trend, but it definitely works!  I like the edge of my moto jacket and combat boots mixed with the femininity of the tutu.
(VS jacket, AA tutu, Steve Madden boots)

4. The ever classic white button down! I learned of pairing this with a tutu in the book That Extra Half and Inch by Victoria Beckham.  This is the way I wore my tutu when I took it out for its first outing!
(Express blouse, AA tutu, vintage heels, F21 headband)

5. Another Free People top! Must I explain why this is fabulous?? A lace top and a tutu. Enough said!
(Free People top, Express tank, AA tutu, Aldo shoes)

Would you ever wear a tutu? If so, how would you style it!!???

Oh my gosh! I love this :) I love them all, but my favorites have to be 1, 3 ( great leather jacket!) and 5. But the floppy hat and stripes on 2 are great also. . . so I guess I love them all!

And I'm now definitely thinking that I need to go to AA for a tutu stat. . .

Anyways, have an amazing Friday!

I love tutus and I really love these 5 ways features!

I wear my tutu with a simple tee or jumper and flat pumps. Next did a really cute outfit in their AW10 lookbook that was styled around a tutu - I posted about it HERE.

Great looks and one of my favourite pieces of clothing ever. Don't wear it half as much as I would like, but when you put it like this, it looks very effortless and I do wonder why don't I.

Great post! I got a cute skirt from Japan this Christmas and had no idea how to match it up, until now. Thanks. And of course I would wear a tutu!!! I quit ballet because they wouldn't let me wear one.

I love look 5 best. I can't wear a tutu but I try to talk my 4 year old daughter into wearing hers, which is blue ombre and tiered, so girly and wonderful!. Mostly she says no.

Wow. Amazing.

I've loved tutus since birth but never thought I could wear one. Your success with this inspires me to get one for myself.

I don't know if you saw my post on tutus a few months ago, but I never knew how anybody could style a tutu and make it look good. You might be the first person. So congrats. :)

This is really cute! I've always wanted a tutu but I've never been brave enough to buy one. I really the the first way you styled it though. I love graphic tees with words so I guess that's why I'm fond of that one!

Love the tutu ideas
Am going to try and make one in the next several weeks, will then have friends decide if I am too old to pull it off. If so, a lucky niece will get it.

Thanks for telling me the pinning process for the hair is a no brainier.
I can't wait to try this out. Elbow has to get a little less stiff so I can curl the hair. LOL

the tutu is so cute, and I adore it with the motorcycle jacket.
Tough and girly, such a simple pair, but always cute.

I always love to see these mixed and matched. It's always so cute...but can't bring myself to wear one. Just think I'm perhaps a bit too old at 40 to be trying to rock a tutu. LOL!

I would love a tutu. Yours is gorgeous. I would probably style it with a leather jacket or a heavy top for a bit of contrast. I love the looks you did.
