Outfit Post: Too School for Cool

Whenever we were walking around trying to figure out where to take some outfit pictures, we came across this sweet, chartreuse green wall.  Now, I have this as an accent color in our home, so I was really wanting to just take this wall home with me! But Shan assured me this was not possible! So we might have to put one of these pictures up in the house to make due.
We also found this neat little record store that had a sweet lime green wall too! Now on to more important things, like outfit details!
I found this lovely bone colored mini blazer in the sale section at Urban Outfitters where I always seem to find a few gems hiding somewhere beneath all the jumbled layers of clothing.  It was on sale for $19, score! I also picked up the blouse that I am wearing underneath, but I am wearing it backwards  because when you wear it the "correct" way, the blouse comes up way too high for my taste!  I paired my UO pieces with my favorite Uniqlo skinnies (best fitting jeans I have ever owned) that I picked up in London back in September! You might remember me wearing them HERE. (that was when I just discovered Uniqlo)  I topped the outfit off with a pair of neutral, patent, round-toed heels from Aldo that I have had for a few years now.  They never go out of style!!
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Me and Socks go Together Like a Burger and Fries

So I have been loving all of the catalogs and magazines lately that I have seen featuring socks with shoes! (And not to mention socks with sandals, peep toes, you name it)  Being inspired by the new sock revolution, I took my happy self down to American Apparel (one of my faves) and bought a pair of ultra, frilly, girly socks.  This whole outfit is seriously put together around these cream, dainty socks.  I do love wrapping all of my belts over my jackets this Fall too.  It really seems to define the waist and make you feel more womanly!

Lipstick Couture Giveaway Winner!!

Hey my lovelies! I got so excited with everything else that is going on that I got behind on announcing the winner of my jewelry giveaway! The winner is Taylor Rhodes over at A Little Bit of Everything. (You should visit her) I was so pumped because Taylor is actually a fellow HOUSTON blogger. (YAY, I Love my City) So, I gave her the option of picking any piece that she wanted from my Etsy shop.  Taylor happily decided on the Rock Candy necklace which I absolutely adore.  After sending her the necklace, she sent me a picture of herself wearing it to a baby shower last Sunday. Congratulations Taylor!!

This is the necklace Taylor picked!

Weeds and Buildings...

As all my lovelies know, I am obsessed with my Free People tutu skirt and this outfit involves my fav piece of clothing of course! In fact, I am going to do a post later this week about all the ways to utilize this incredible skirt! Anyways, back to this outfit.  The shoes were an exciting find for me while out shopping with my bestie.  I asked her what she thought and she definitely gave me a confused and I'm not so sure about those look, but I went with them anyway! In fact, if I get a confused look from my friends when I ask them for an opinion on things, I usually take that as a green light to buy it!  When we took these shots, I was seriously having a hard time standing around these weeds.  I respect nature very much, but I don't like to play in it too often if I can help it.

Everyone Loves Lipstick Presents Lipstick Couture

I love, need, and yearn for the icing on the cake we ladies call accessories. That final touch that helps us say - "I am ready to be fabulous today!" I have spent at least half my pay-checks for as long as I can remember on these trinkets and baubles we decorate ourselves with. I was, keyword WAS, a huge shopper of Charming Charlie's, Sam Moon, and any other super cheap, discount jewelry store I came across that would swipe my plastic. But over the past few months, I started to realize that all of the jewelry I was buying would either break right away or I might only get two or three wears out of each piece. I was so frustrated that I vowed to myself that I would learn how to make jewelry.  What if I could custom design each piece for my wardrobe needs?! Well, I absolutely fell in love with jewelry making. It feels like a modern-day throwback to knitting which somehow comforts me as I make knot after painstaking knot between each pearl (sometimes there are hundreds!) So, after much vigorous work in my woman cave with the company of many of my fav Sex and The City episodes, I began to create my very own collection! I am now thrilled to introduce Lipstick Couture!! This is a preview (a teaser if you will) of what is to come! I anticipate launching the Etsy online shop on August 23rd so don't worry, it won't be long.
